JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the efficient and successful execution of large-scale complex projects undertaken by the WGD Consulting Project Management Office (PMO). The incumbent will apply their motivational aptitude, creative thinking, and knowledge of PMI/PMP strategies to lead diverse project teams through the successful delivery of project requirements and organizational objectives. The Senior Project Manager will research, propose, and execute initiatives for the ongoing improvement of asset/resource allocation as they pertain to project timelines, budgetary constraints, and profit margins. Under the direction of the Director, Project Management, the Senior Project Manager will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects to completion. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project specific duties to include:

  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle, including project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure through application of established PMP/PMI methodologies.
  • Define project scope, status, and risks that establish mitigation strategies to address project changes and reduce/eliminate delays in project timelines
  • Oversee resource allocation, scheduling, budgeting and management of day-to-day operations for project delivery.
  • Produce ad-hoc project status reports (RAID, Change-Log, Status Reports, etc.) for client/leadership review as it pertains to timelines, budget and resource allocation.
  • Establish clear lines of communication with cross functional teams to build and maintain project schedules.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and objectives.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to prioritize tasks required to synchronize efforts of various external suppliers/contractors.
  • Create and review change orders by requesting quotes and issuing/securing purchase requests from client procurement department.
  • Assist with communication triage for the Project Management Office from stakeholders, SME’s, and technical teams as it pertains to changes in scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Ensure all project systems meet industry standards and adhere to operational best practices.

General duties to include:

  • Design, implement and execute reporting schedules to provide real-time project status updates to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, meeting minutes, and any relevant documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure continuous review of project timelines related to systems integration, engineering, and cyber security (technical and non-technical).
  • Apply initiative to anticipate and accommodate organizational/stakeholder requirements on a pro-active basis to achieve project deadlines.
  • Use of exemplary critical thinking and contingency planning as it pertains to project risk management and methodologies.
  • Conduct business activities with integrity, care, and trustworthiness while maintaining compliance following internal and external guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a broad commitment to financial, social, and environmental responsibility for project impacts at all times.
  • Develop working knowledge of information system standards such as American Public Transportation Association (APTA), US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), etc
  • Proven ability to effectively solve problems by providing alternate solutions to achieve desired result
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to foster collaborative working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Proactive approach to project management through exemplary attention to detail, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Professional command of the English language in both spoken and written in all communications and presentation settings.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as required.
  • Proven ability to effectively organize, lead, and manage project vendors/stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six (6+) years project management experience, in complex large-scale systems delivery or combination of equivalent skills and experience.
  • Three (3+) years experience in P3/ Consortium project delivery.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies, and ability to adapt method to achieve project success (IE Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Understanding of Industrial Control System (ICS) design and implementation will be considered an asset
  • Experience in rail transportation or mass transit industries is an asset.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

  • Four (4) year Bachelor’s or two (2) year Master’s degree in engineering, business, computer science or equivalent area of study.
  • Possession of PMI/PMP certification(s) in good standing required.
  • Experience with Smartsheets is an asset.
  • Experience with time tracking software an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio.
